Privacy Policy — Vintage Watch
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Vintage Watch is a clock app for Android published by Western Software. This policy explains what the app does with information on your device.
Summary
Vintage Watch does not collect, transmit or sell any data. It contains no ads or analytics and requires no account or sign-up. It only connects to Google Play, for the Collection purchase, and to our dial pack server, when you open the "More dials" screen or install a pack.
What the app uses, on your device only
- Your settings: the chosen watch (movement, dial), night mode hours and the widget chronograph state. They are stored in the app's private storage and never leave it.
- The gravity sensor: it turns the widget's oscillating weight according to the phone's orientation, only while the screen is on. Readings are used on the spot, never stored or transmitted.
- The system time: to show the time.
Permissions
- Foreground service: animates the widget's oscillating weight while the app is closed. Android then shows a notification; the animation can be turned off in the app.
- Run at startup: sets the widget back to the right time after a reboot.
- Internet and network state access, Google Play billing: added by the Google Play Billing library to show the Collection's price, buy it and verify the purchase. Internet access is also used for dial packs (below). The app contacts no other server.
The app requests no access to location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
Dial packs
When you open the "More dials" screen, the app downloads the list of packs and their thumbnails from our server, hosted by Cloudflare; when you install a pack, it downloads its images. These requests carry no identifier, no cookie and no information about you or your device. Like any Internet connection, they reveal the device's IP address, which Cloudflare uses to route the response; Western Software does not log it or use it in any way. Installed packs stay on the device and can be removed from the same screen.
Android backup
If you have turned on device backup, Android may include the app's settings in your Google account backup. This service is provided and managed by Google under its own terms; Western Software has no access to it.
Purchases
The one-time "Collection" purchase is handled by Google Play under its own terms. Western Software never sees your name or payment method; the app only receives the purchase confirmation needed to unlock the dials, and keeps it on the device.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes
Any change to this policy will be published at this address, with its date.
